Sterile Insect Technique (SIT)

Here at Lee County Mosquito Control District, we use various tools to control mosquitoes. One such tool is the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT).

This method involves releasing lab-reared, sterilized male Aedes aegypti mosquitoes to mate with the wild female population to reduce their presence.

SIT is not a new technology and does not involve genetically modifying mosquitoes.
